Plant Reference

The profiles below are of plant species native to the Sydney Basin Bioregion (or occasionally further afield on the Australian East Coast). It primarily focuses on species that are rarely used in gardens or designed plantings.

They started as an attempt to fill a lack of information on species for which there is little or contradictory horticultural information available. Many of these we believe should be used more in these settings, or trialed for such applications, if there is insufficient information thus far. TARN is doing this in our own projects; we will update the relevant profile with any new insights that we glean from our research and experiments.

Some of these species we are unable to recommend, but we think our lack of success with them is important information. We believe that sharing experiences of plant ‘failure’ – as much as success – is an important way to make the industry better.
